Cinematographer, Photographer, Director, Drone Pilot, Artist, Musician, World Traveler, TEDxVail Speaker

Michael Boidy is a Los Angeles filmmaker, cinematographer and world traveler who captures much of the world from above, as well as on the ground. Aerial cinematography became a niche for Michael in 2007 while working for Helifilms USA, flying around in helicopters with a gyro-stabilized camera attached, capturing aerials for the Bachelor & Survivor TV series, as well as Nat Geo’s Great Migrations, the World Cup South Africa and US Open. In addition, Michael films aerials for a documentary series called the Royal Tour featuring presidents and prime ministers of different countries.

As drone technology evolved, that gave Michael an opportunity to become proficient in operating robotic cameras. In 2014, Michael formed an aerial production company called Cinecopter Productions.

In addition to aerial filming, Michael works regularly as a cinematographer and camera operator for major brand commercials, TV shows, features films, music videos and development shows. Spending a majority of his time behind the lens and lighting the scene, it's clear that Michael’s passion and dedication is making images look dynamic and beautiful, meanwhile working closely with the director to capture the emotion and mood of the scene.

Aside from photography and traveling, last year Michael was privileged to speak at TEDxVail on the topic Music is Medicine. After breaking his back in a helicopter crash while filming in Guatemala, Michael recovered slowly after surgery, however he found a majority of his recovery from sound healing & music. With that discovery, Michael began filming a documentary entitled Heart Beat which explores music’s roots and the healing benefits of sound at a cellular level.
